2048 Score Calculator

Enter the values created by your merges. The calculator adds the points exactly as standard 2048 scoring does: each merge awards the value of the new tile.

Runs in your browser. Your entries are not uploaded.

How is 2048 score calculated?

When two equal tiles merge, your score increases by the value of the tile they create. A 2 + 2 merge creates 4 and adds 4 points. A 4 + 4 merge creates 8 and adds 8 points. If both happen in the same move, those merges add 12 points. The displayed score is therefore the running sum of all resulting merge values, not the sum of every tile currently on the board.

2048 scoring example

Suppose one swipe creates 4, 8 and 16. That move adds 4 + 8 + 16 = 28 points. Two players can finish with the same highest tile but different scores because they may have produced different numbers of smaller merges on the way there.

What this calculator does not include

Newly spawned 2 and 4 tiles do not directly add score. Moving tiles without a merge adds zero. This calculator measures only the merge values you enter; it does not infer a complete game score from a screenshot or from the final board alone.

Score calculator questions

Does reaching 2048 give exactly 2048 points?

The merge that creates the 2048 tile adds 2048 points, but your total game score is much higher because all earlier merges also added points.

Does a new 4 tile add four points?

No. A randomly spawned 4 changes the board but does not directly change the score. Points are awarded by merges.

Can I calculate score from the final board only?

Not exactly. Different merge histories can produce similar boards, especially because 4 tiles can spawn directly. The exact score requires the merge history or the game’s running score.
