What is the 2048 game?

2048 is a number-merging puzzle played on a square grid. Move all tiles in four directions; when two tiles with the same value touch, they merge into one tile with double the value.

How do I play 2048 on desktop and mobile?

On desktop, use the arrow keys or W A S D. On phones and tablets, swipe directly on the board in the direction you want to move.

Can I keep playing after reaching 2048?

Yes. After creating the 2048 tile, you can continue playing toward larger tiles such as 4096 or 8192.

What is the difference between the 4×4 and 5×5 modes?

The 4×4 mode uses 16 cells and includes a one-move Undo. The 5×5 mode has 25 cells, giving you more room and a different pace. Progress, best score and statistics are saved separately for each mode.

Do I need an account to save my score?

No. Your current game, best score, statistics and settings are stored in the browser on the device you are using.
